Nichole Weiler, LCSW

Overview

It takes courage and faith to embark on the therapeutic journey, but I feel those who do may reveal new insights and open new opportunities. My approach includes encouragement and honesty to promote overall well being.  I work with teenagers, adults, individuals, families, couples, military and first responders with a focus on trauma, depression and anxiety.

Therapeutic strategies such as EMDR, Mindfulness, coaching and CBT will be used to help you achieve your goal of letting go of all that is holding you back. Through self-exploration, problem solving, releasing of negative thoughts/statements I believe you can discover the true you.

Work and Education History

I received my master’s degree in social work from Indiana University in 2005.  I moved to Roanoke, VA where I became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in 2009.  I then moved to Norfolk in 2011 to be closer to the beach and warmer weather.

Throughout my career I have become passionate about helping my clients heal from past or current issues instead of just helping them deal with them. My goal for my client’s is to get them back to the life they want as soon as possible. I use EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing, along with CBT and mindfulness to help my clients heal in an efficient and effective manner.  Please visit www.emdria.org to learn more about this therapeutic modality.

I enjoy working with first responders and military as well as civilians.  First responder’s and military personnel put their lives on the line daily for others and often do not take the time to take care of themselves or the traumatic events that they have experienced while on the job or in their personal lives. By healing from these events, the first responder or military personnel can become a better police officer, fireman and soldier because they become more present instead of living in the past. If you are a post 9/11 active duty or veteran please contact me to discuss what options are available to you or see if you qualify for free, confidential and stigma free counseling and please let them know that I referred you.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about me and my therapeutic style. Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in beginning or continuing your therapeutic journey and feel I can help in any way.
